Mary P. Fletcher

Florida Suncoast Chapter
A photograph of Mary Fletcher holding her dog in her lap as she sits in a chair.

Mary was born in Utica, NY, and moved to St. Petersburg, FL in 1976 to work for the St. Petersburg Times, where she worked for 20 years. She obtained her private pilot license through Civil Air Patrol and thereafter flew for them, obtaining the rank of Captain. Mary was active in aviation locally and internationally. She joined the The Ninety-Nines in 1980 and was an active and dedicated member, eventually serving as Southeast Section Governor from 1987-1989.

Mary’s passing is a profound loss to our organization and to the aviation community she served so faithfully. She was not only a dedicated Ninety-Nine, but also a mentor, leader, and friend whose passion for flight and commitment to supporting women in aviation left a lasting impact. Her legacy will continue to inspire future generations of aviators, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and flying alongside her.
