2024 Fall Section Meeting Minutes

First Time Section Meeting Attendee

Stephanie Skye, Georgia Flying Belles

After moving from the Seattle area to the Atlanta area, I was thrilled to discover that the local chapter of The Ninety-Nines, the Georgia Flying Belles, is so active! Getting involved with this incredible group has been a fantastic experience, and I’ve loved learning more about all the great work they do.

When I found out we were hosting the section meeting, I was excited for the opportunity to learn more. From day one of the conference, it was wonderful to finally meet in person so many of the people I’d only known through emails. Attending the business meeting was eye-opening—we learned about fundraising efforts across multiple chapters and how everything comes together to support our section, as well as the national and international organization. But the absolute best part? Meeting so many incredible women!

It was truly inspiring to see pilots of all ages—from teenagers to women in their eighties—coming together, sharing their stories, and supporting one another. It was a powerful reminder of the strength and camaraderie within The Ninety-Nines. I highly encourage any Ninety-Nine to attend their local section meeting if they can. It’s an amazing way to connect, learn, and see firsthand the incredible impact The Ninety-Nines are making.

In September 2024, I attended the 99s’ Southeast Section meeting. This was my first Southeast Section meeting, and the diversity of attendees and wealth of knowledge were nothing short of spectacular.

I had the opportunity to network with pilots with experience ranging from casual general aviation enthusiasts to airline captains to frontier-extending, beloved stalwarts of this historical organization.

The conference was well-organized and balanced with a mix of technical information delivery, administrative housekeeping, and social activities. I am a private pilot currently working toward my instrument rating. As I begin my second career in aviation, the meeting provided me with both knowledge and connections that will be crucial for me moving forward in aviation.

Congratulations to the Board of the Georgia Flying Belles for organizing such a vibrant, rewarding, –and fun!– meeting.
