2024 Spring SE Section Meeting Overview

Our meeting was held in April, beginning on Thursday evening if the members chose to arrive early in Lafayette, Louisiana. That night there was Rhythms on The River with local cuisine provided through Food Trucks. There was dancing and music and lots of socializing amongst the ladies under the canopy of southern trees.
The next morning, we went to the Air Med Facilities, which has helicopter and fixed ambulance service aircraft along the southern part of the US. Following that, we went on a tour of Jefferson Island and learned about the history of the salt domes in that area. After lunch, we zipped back to Lafayette for a tour of AvEx, a business that paints and reconfigures 747s and the like. This was a fascinating experience. After that, we went over to the seaway of New Iberia, which is currently drained, to feast on a crawfish boil. Some ladies stayed behind to gather for the board, while others returned to the hotel hospitality room hosted by the infamous NOLA chapter ladies.
The following day, we had our section meeting with Minnetta Gardinier as our 99s International Representative. It was never-ending. We listened to two members who had recently flown the 48 contiguous states. Then we heard from a female controller and a few of her adventures. Many stayed for dinner at a local restaurant. All had a great time.
