Women in Air Racing Display

There is a new display at the Florida Air Museum on the ACE/Sun n Fun campus, Lakeland, Florida. The display honors the over 4,000 women who have participated in air racing since the first Air Derby in 1929 and the early air racing years, through the All Women’s Transcontinental Air Race (Powder Puff Derby) years (1947-1978), and now into the years of the Air Race Classic (1978-2023). Trophies were contributed by 99s Lisa Watkins and Gretchen Jahn with race memorabilia from JoAnne Alcorn and others. This display was opened for Sun n Fun 2023 and will continue for at least a year.
