SAFECON Competition | Nov 1 – 5 | Lakeland | Volunteers Needed
This is just a reminder that the SAFECON competition is right around the corner November 1-5 at KLAL – Lakeland Linder International Airport!
Marilyn Shafer, the SE Section NIFA Chair, has booked a room close to the airport. She currently has an extra double bed in my room for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday nights with a free hot breakfast at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott. If anyone is interested, please let Marilyn Shafer know. The cost would be $80 per night. If interested, please reply on a first-come, first-served basis.
Thursday will be the busiest day of flying for these collegiate aviators with the need for judges being the greatest on that day. Daily judges’ briefings take place at 0730 with the competitors’ briefing at 0800 and we’re off! The day usually ends around 1800. Attached is the TBD tentative plan for the week. Come for the day or longer…you won’t be disappointed!
We are planning a social for the women competitors at the 99s House on Wednesday, November 2nd at 1630. This will be a time to share our experiences and give insights to these women about their future aviation goals. They always come with lots of questions and truly enjoy your insights and company!
Marilyn should be available to pick you up at Sheltair Aviation LAL if you plan to fly in. Sheltair charges $15 per night for single-engine planes and, if you are a new customer, the first night’s fee is waived so you’re FREE!
Questions? Don’t hesitate to reach out to Marilyn Shafer. Hope to see many 99s at this NIFA SAFECON (Safety and Flight Evaluation Conference) in Lakeland. Pictures will be taken for the 99s Magazine January issue!
